As our trees start to lose their leaves, the nutrients left in the leaves move into the roots and are stored there until spring.

As the colder weather sets in our cherry trees go into dormancy. This is when our cherry trees stop growing and conserve energy until better cultural conditions present themselves.

During winter we are busy on the farm preparing our ground ready to plant potatoes in July. Were also busy mowing the orchard, fertilizing and planting new fruit trees.
Spring - Bee’s
September
Before our orchard is in full blossom we have a local bee company that provides our orchard with bee’s for approx. 6/8 weeks. The presence of bees in the orchard is crucial and a major factor to provide a sizable crop each year.

Swollen Buds - In September our cherry trees have left dormancy, the bud begins to swell and the tips become green. An indicator that growth has begun.

Bud Burst - The buds have become almost entirely green at this pont and the tip has begun to split and separate.

White Bud - Here you see the white bud push out of their sheath and are visible as white buds.

Bloom - It’s is the period when pollination occurs.

This stage is apparent when the stems are left and less than 25% of the petals remain.

Fruit development happens over these months ready for picking in January.

The cherries are fully developed bursting with deliciousness and ready to pick, YUM !
